Rules of Engagement
- Avoid accusatory "You" statements but rather use "I" statements e.g. avoid, "You always", "You never" and rather use "I feel ___ about your actions" etc
- If you feel triggered and need a moment - request for 30 secs, pause and reconvene - note down what triggered your for our debrief section.
- When in doubt, ask clarification questions before responding.
- Do not interrupt someone when they have their chance to speak.
- Be thoughtful, engaged and constructive when communicating.
- Listen to understand, not to respond - (sooooo cliche god, but super important :)
- Design creative solutions - it takes time, but you are on the right path by agreeing to dialogue.
- Pause before responding to criticism - remember the value of getting honest feedback.
